“A GAME OF LIFE OR DEATH IS A GRIPPING, EXCITING, TIGHTLY-PACED NOVEL WRITTEN BY AN AUTHOR WHO HAS SOMETHING VITAL TO SAY. IT IS A STORY FOR OUR TIME AND MARKS TRIONA CAMPBELL AS ONE TO WATCH. I LOVED IT.”
“A BREAK NECK SPIRAL THROUGH THE DARK SIDE OF THE TECH WORLD. TIGHTLY PLOTTED, TENSE AND UTTERLY FASCINATING.”
“PART MURDER MYSTERY, PART PULSE-POUNDING THRILLER, WITH BREATH-TAKING SCENES SET IN A VIRTUAL REALITY WORLD AS FIENDISH AS THE ARENA IN THE HUNGER GAMES, THIS IS A TRULY SENSATIONAL READ.”
Set in the near future, A Game of Life or Death takes the reader into a world of videogames, eSports tournaments, and tech corporations run by cult-like leaders who create the videogames played by millions worldwide – with a hint of an epic love story, but only if they can both survive.
Sisters Asha and Maya Kennedy grew up alone. It’s always been just them, fighting to stay together in a care system stretched too thin. However, what should have been their happy ever after when they leave the care system is anything but when Asha discovers her sister’s body.
As Asha begins to unravel the secrets Maya kept, she realises that the only way to find the truth is from the inside. She hides her identity and battles to qualify for the eSport tournament held by Zu Tech to launch ‘SHACKLE’. The video game Maya was working on before her death. But every answer comes at a price, and even the few people Asha has learnt to trust: Augie, a once shining star of eSports, twins Ruby and Josh and the enigmatic Dark seem to be hiding dangerous secrets of their own.
